The Empowering Role of our Year 6 Leaders
St Peter’s Girls empowers every Year 6 student with a meaningful leadership role. These opportunities cultivate initiative, deepen empathy, and enhance communication skills. Whether in sports, arts, technology or peer support, our girls lead by example, uplift their peers, and make lasting contributions to our School community.
From Rainbow Serpents to Rope Ascents: Year 4s Camp Success!
Forty-nine enthusiastic Year 4 students embarked on an unforgettable adventure at Woodhouse Activity Centre from Wednesday 30 April to Friday 2 May. This special three-day camp seamlessly blended Indigenous cultural learning with thrilling physical challenges, creating a truly enriching experience.
The program, facilitated by Active Education instructors, struck a perfect balance between cultural discovery and physical challenges. Students developed essential personal and social skills, learning to respect and appreciate Indigenous culture while building resilience, teamwork, and a growth mindset through various activities.
On the cultural side, students crafted clay fish adorned with traditional designs, navigated the ‘Rainbow Serpent’ orienteering course, and competed enthusiastically in traditional games. These activities offered meaningful insights into Australia’s First Nations heritage and storytelling traditions.
Equally significant were the physical challenges that tested students’ determination and problem-solving abilities. The Year 4s conquered the demanding obstacles on Challenge Hill (no easy feat!), navigated complex orienteering courses, and collaborated to overcome various team challenges. Many students surprised themselves with their achievements, discovering what they could accomplish by persisting through difficulties.
During their overnight stay, the campers enjoyed a night walk, stargazing, and soaking in the night sounds. On the final night, the girls were treated to a quiz night and the always popular marshmallow s’mores—a perfect way to unwind after days filled with cultural learning and physical challenges.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all staff members who made this enriching experience possible for our Year 4 students!
