APY Lands Immersion Trip

During week 2, a group of Year 11 students and staff travelled to the APY Lands for an immersion trip. First, we had a very long travel day, however, it was very worthwhile when we arrived at Kenmore Park School. During the trip, we had the opportunity to engage in a wide range of inclusive classroom-based activities with the students. These activities included bracelet making, pizza cooking, painting, and immersing ourselves in their culture, aiming to build and foster connections. We also had the opportunity to visit their orchard, containing fresh fruits and produce. It was amazing to see how passionate and welcoming the students of Kenmore Park were towards us, sharing aspects of their community.

One of the highlights was going on country and experiencing the spectacular landscape of the APY Lands as well as learning about the Aṉangu culture and traditions, opening our minds to different ways of life. This allowed us to understand the importance of the environment and special traditions to indigenous people.

On the Wednesday, we visited the community of Ernabella where we were able to understand the contrast between varying communities. In Ernabella we were fortunate enough to visit their local art gallery and participate in an AFL session with the local schools of Ernabella. This session was run by the Adelaide Crows Foundation, whom we travelled in convoy for this experience. It was amazing to create connections with the people in Ernabella through a shared passion for sport.

Overall, it was a great experience which provided us with the opportunity to engage with students, help cook meals and learn about the Anangu culture and their stories. We have gained so much knowledge, gratitude and connection through this experience, and greatly thank the school and Adelaide Crows Foundation for providing us with this once in a lifetime opportunity.

St Peter’s Girls Take on SA’s Toughest Mathematics Challenge!

On Wednesday 7 May, brilliant young minds from Years 7 to 11 at St Peter’s Girls proudly represented our School in the Hamann School Mathematics Competition (HSMC) — one of the state’s most elite and challenging mathematics contests.

This demanding event saw students tackling up to 24 tough questions in just 90 minutes, testing not only their curriculum knowledge but also their creative problem-solving skills. Sponsored by the Society of Petroleum Engineers, the competition encourages students to embrace abstract thinking and see the excitement in mathematical challenges.

We are so proud of the girls who stepped up to this prestigious challenge — your passion, determination, and intellectual courage are an inspiration! Results will be announced soon, and we can’t wait to celebrate your achievements.
