Mr Fuller brings in his Gold Medal from Sydney 2000 Paralympics
The Junior School Athletic students were treated to a visit from Mr Fuller at training last week, where he brought in one of his four Gold Medals that he achieved in the Sydney 2000 Paralympics; this one for the 4x 400m Sprint.
Mr Fuller has a decorated trophy cabinet from over 15 years of competing at a national and international level in various track events, as well as Long Jump. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including an Australian Sports Medal and the Medal of the Order of Australia, and was inducted into the Athletics South Australia Hall of Fame and the Australian Institute of Sport – Best of the Best in 1997 and 2001, respectively.
Students admired the Gold Medal and inspected it closely as it was passed around the group, whilst Mr Fuller shared memories from his involvement in Athletics.
Thank you, Mr Fuller! A truly memorable experience for our aspiring Athletic students.

In addition, there is now the opportunity to play some competition sports socially, as well as to nominate for competition sports based on skill ability or friendship group selection (Middle and Senior only).
Nominations are to be completed via Clipboard and close next Friday 23 August, 9.00am.
Student Mentoring Program
This week, students involved in the Student Mentoring Program were fortunate enough to take part in a workshop facilitated by former Adelaide Thunderbird Vice Captain and Australian Diamond Netball athlete, Sarah Sutter.
Sarah achieved ultimate success during her netball career, winning gold at the 1995 and 1998 Commonwealth Games, and winning back-to-back premierships with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 1998 and 1999. Since retiring from netball, Sarah has held senior leadership positions at several organisations. More recently, she has founded companies dedicated to providing leadership and well-being coaching to individuals and groups.
The focus of the workshop was What Makes a Good Leader? The mentors worked together to identify and list positive and negative attributes that some leaders may have, drawing on their sporting, schooling, and other lived experiences. The mentors were then encouraged to reflect on their own leadership styles, and what their strengths were and areas that they could improve on.
It was fantastic to hear some of Sarah’s experiences as an elite athlete, coach, businesswoman and mentor, and the Student Mentors are looking forward to implementing some of the principles into their coaching.
Pink Round Fundraiser
Well done to the Sport Captains for planning and coordinating a successful Pink Round and thank you to the Saints Café, students, staff and families for their efforts and support of the round. There was plenty of pink to be seen throughout the sporting fixtures, and over 300 ‘I’m doing it for’ nametags filled out and displayed throughout areas of the School.
The total raised from the bake sales and profits from Saints Café was $738.90 and there were 144 pairs of Pink Socks purchased, equating to over $1500 raised. The support from everyone involved helped the School to raise nearly $2240, which has been donated to the Breast Cancer Network Australia.
