Term Reflection: Growing, Exploring, and Creating Together
As Term 2 comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on the journey of learning, discovery, and wonder shared by our children and educators. This term has been filled with rich, hands-on experiences that nurtured curiosity, empathy, and creativity.
New Life in the Classroom – Chickens and Quails Hatch!
One of the most exciting highlights this term was the opportunity to witness the miracle of life firsthand. Our rooms buzzed with anticipation as we closely monitored eggs in incubators, learning about life cycles, warmth, and care. The joy and awe on the children’s faces when the first chicks and quails hatched was truly magical. This experience sparked many questions, encouraged gentle interactions, and gave children a real sense of responsibility as they helped care for the hatchlings. It also prompted discussions about where animals come from, what they need to grow, and how we can be kind and respectful to all living things.
Designing Our Outdoor Environment
Another major focus this term was our ongoing outdoor environment project. The children became young landscape designers, contributing their thoughts, drawings, and ideas for how we can shape a more engaging and natural outdoor play space. Using loose parts, sticks, blocks, natural materials, and lots of imagination, children collaborated in small groups to create versions of their outdoor areas. This was a wonderful opportunity to practice problem-solving, teamwork, and spatial awareness—all while developing a deeper connection to nature and play.
Connections with Ferguson Park
Our regular visits to Ferguson Park continued to be a source of wonder and exploration. The children delighted in discovering new plants, watching seasonal changes, and finding hidden treasures. The open space gave children freedom to move, climb, and run, while our guided conversations encouraged them to think critically about the environment, ask questions about the natural world, and build a strong sense of place and belonging in their local community.
As we head into the next term, we are excited to build on these experiences—especially continuing our outdoor space redesign and revisiting Ferguson Park with new questions and fresh eyes. Thank you to our families for your ongoing support and enthusiasm.
Wishing you all a safe and joyful break!

LC1 & LC2 Celebration
It was a joy to gather with children, families, and educators in the Piazza to celebrate LC1’s transition into the Erindale room. It feels like just yesterday we welcomed children and families into our learning space, and now we are ready for the next step of their learning journey. The children confidently sang, collected their portfolios and reports, and happily received a beloved gift: a hand-painted set of clapping sticks. These clapping sticks symbolise community and respect, and we hope their sound will evoke beautiful memories forever.
The Pathway transition ceremony, held for the first time in the Chapel, was a collective celebration of achievements, community, and joy. The children sang with enthusiasm and commitment for their families and friends. They received handmade graduation crowns as symbols of success and victory. Mrs. Caterina shared the ancient Italian tradition of celebrating university graduations with laurel leaf crowns. The process of making crowns with recycled materials became a meaningful way to create lasting memories of their time at the ELC.
We wish all our children transitioning to the next part of their learning journey the very best for their future!

The Hat Ceremony – A Celebratory Milestone
There was a palpable sense of joy and celebration on Monday as our Pathway girls proudly received their hats and bags during the much-anticipated Hat Ceremony. This cherished tradition represents more than a transition, it honours the rich learning journey that each child has undertaken, and the capabilities they have developed that will support them as they step into the next chapter of their education.
This moment was deeply meaningful for families, children, and educators alike. Standing alongside them, we celebrated the growth, relationships, and deep sense of belonging that have flourished during their time at the ELC. In a beautiful gesture of connection across the School, each child was joined by a Year 12 Prefect buddy, a symbolic reminder of the strength of community and the continuum of learning from early childhood through to graduation. The presence of these student leaders underscored the importance of mentorship and the collective support surrounding each child as they take their next steps.
Our Year 6 leaders also demonstrated maturity and leadership as they hosted the ceremony with confidence. The celebration was further enriched by performances from the St Peter’s Girls’ School Strings Ensemble and a beautiful piano piece by Harper Teo from Year 3 elevating the experience.
After the formalities, children marked this milestone with photographs alongside their Year 12 buddies and their families, followed by a warm gathering with refreshments in the Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre foyer.
While we are sad to farewell families who will be leaving the Centre, we do so with gratitude for the time shared and the stories built together. Our Pathway children will be moving forward with a strong foundation of confidence, curiosity, and connection, qualities that will continue to guide them in their learning and relationships.
We look forward to hearing about their adventures to come, and to celebrating the many milestones and successes that await them.
