Year 2 Excusion to Adelaide Oval
On Tuesday 27 May, our Year 2 students had a wonderful excursion to the iconic Adelaide Oval. The girls were treated to a special guided tour that took them behind the scenes of one of Adelaide’s most treasured landmarks. The tour included visits to the media rooms, the players’ change rooms, and the historic manual scoreboard—each stop sparking curiosity and excitement. The students had plenty of opportunities to ask questions and make meaningful connections to what they’ve been learning in class. Following the tour, the girls set off on a walk around the stadium grounds. They explored the many statues and learned about the famous athletes and historic moments that make the Oval so significant. After heavy rain during the journey in, the sun was shining for the rest of the morning, and the beautiful weather made the day even more enjoyable. It was a great opportunity for the girls to engage with history, sport, and storytelling in a memorable way.

Year 2 Chinese Students Shine with Confidence and Joy and Junior School Assembly
Last Friday’s Junior School Assembly was filled with energy, laughter, and a touch of Mandarin as our Year 2 students shared their PYP inquiry learning with the School community. As part of the celebration, they also presented a joyful performance of the Chinese song ‘Count to 100‘—a brief but vibrant moment that reflected their growing confidence and enthusiasm for learning Mandarin.
What made this performance especially meaningful is that it was initiated by the students themselves. They suggested including the song in the assembly because of how much they enjoy it—both for its catchy rhythm and the playful movements that accompany it.
Here’s what some of the students shared about why they love this song:
- Molly: “There are animals in the song.”
- Riley: “We get to count to 100 with dance moves.”
- Evangeline: “It’s really catchy!”
- Selene: “It’s a good way to get our energy out.”
- Deabelle: “We can dance like animals. The dog one is my favourite!”
- Olive, Vivienne, Alesha, Chloe, Stevie and Esparanza: “It’s fun to sing and dance. It makes me feel happy.”
Though a small part of the assembly, the Mandarin song was a wonderful reflection of the joy and confidence our students bring to language learning. We are so proud of their initiative and the spirit they brought to the stage.
Thank you to our Year 2 Chinese learners for reminding us that learning a language is not only about words—it’s also about curiosity, expression, and having fun together.
