Jazz Excellence Takes Centre Stage at Generations in Jazz
Our musicians delivered an exceptional performance at the Generations in Jazz (GIJ) festival, achieving outstanding results across multiple ensembles.
Esperanza placed second in Division 1 (Small), narrowly missing first place by just 0.5 points. Their performance was nothing short of extraordinary, and they proudly retain their standing as the top all-girls jazz choir in the nation.
The Stage Band secured fourth place in Division 2 in their first year competing at this level, a remarkable achievement. They were also the highest-ranked all-girls school in the division. Congratulations to Maddie Battye and Scarlett Parker, who were selected for the prestigious Superband and performed at the awards concert.
The Combo Band made an impressive debut at GIJ, placing ninth in Division 2 out of 28 ensembles, an outstanding result for their first appearance at the festival.
Special congratulations to Abigail Hawkes, who was awarded Best Vocal Solo in Division 1. This honour recognises her highly sophisticated, musical and confident performance.
We are incredibly proud of all our musicians and their achievements. Our sincere thanks go to Old Scholar and Choir Director Emma Pool (Kennion 2023) and Warren Heading, Head of Brass, for their expert guidance and support in helping our ensembles achieve such phenomenal results.
