Middle and Senior School Curriculum Information Evening
We invited our Year 4 to 6 families to join us on Wednesday 17 June, for our Middle and Senior School Curriculum Information Evening. It was a pleasure to share with parents and caregivers what learning looks like for our students across Years 7 to 12. Events like this allow us the opportunity to begin conversations about the learning pathways ahead, as families look forward to the ongoing journey that their daughter will have as she continues her education here at Saints Girls beyond the Junior School.
The evening offered families an early window into the breadth of curriculum on offer as their daughters navigate the Middle and Senior years. We talked through the core learning areas studied in Years 7 and 8, the introduction of elective choice in Year 9, and the way subject options continue to widen through to Year 12.
A key focus of the evening was the senior pathways available to our students. From Year 11, students choose between the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. We outlined how each pathway is structured, the kinds of learners each tends to suit, and how both lead to an ATAR for university entry. Families appreciated the chance to start thinking about these choices well before decisions need to be made.
We also shared our extension offerings, including accelerated subjects that allow students to begin SACE Stage 1 and 2 study ahead of their year level, and our Microcredential program delivered in partnership with Flinders University. These programs allow students to learn beyond the standard year-level curriculum and gain genuine university-level experience.
Underpinning all of this is our commitment to supporting each student. We spoke about the Wellbeing Framework, and pastoral support structures that sit around every girl at our School, from Home Group Teachers and Heads of Year through to Learning Support, study skills sessions and extension tasks.
We look forward to welcoming your daughters into the Middle and Senior School in the years ahead.
