An integral part of our School’s spirit and tradition is our House system. For decades, our four Houses have fostered a sense of community and healthy competition through a variety of events and activities. Beyond the thrill of rivalry, our Houses create lasting bonds across year levels and generations for our girls and their families.
Throughout Term 3, students and staff come together to celebrate their Houses during Spirit Weeks. These weeks are characterised by vibrant displays of House pride, colourful celebrations, and gatherings that bring out the best in our school community. Under the leadership of the House and Deputy House Captains, students from Reception to Year 12 gather in the Chapel to reflect on and celebrate their House’s unique qualities. We hear from House leaders across various year levels about what makes their House special and why they cherish being part of such a team.
The excitement culminates in the House Dinner, a fun-filled evening organised and run by the Year 11 students. This event is a highlight for the Middle and Senior School, offering a chance for students of all ages to come together for a night of games, dressing up, laughter, and celebration. It’s a fantastic opportunity for younger students to interact with their older peers, who serve as positive role models, while Year 11 students gain valuable leadership experience through their roles in planning and running the event.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Year 11 parents for their invaluable support of their daughters and Houses during these events. Your involvement is greatly appreciated and contributes significantly to the success of the Spirit Weeks.
As we look forward to celebrating Kilburn and Kennion in the coming weeks, we also fondly remember the joyful memories from the Patteson and Selwyn Spirit Weeks of 2024. Here’s to continuing our House traditions and fostering a sense of belonging and community for all our students!
