It almost doesn’t seem possible that we have reached the end of Term 2 and the midpoint of the 2026 school year. The term has absolutely flown by.
When reflecting on the term, it’s hard to find a moment that surpasses the opening of the Emily Centre. To see the smiles of delight and surprise on the girls’ faces when they walked through the doors into the new building was simply amazing. The building has transformed lessons and co-curricular experiences for our girls and staff. Equally as wonderful was the official opening of the building held on June 12. To have the whole school together in one space for the first time in a number of years was outstanding and, hopefully, a memory that will live on for students and staff alike for a long time to come.
Term 2 has provided a multitude of moments when we have been able to gather as sub-schools, Houses, or cohorts. The Year 4–12 Sports Day and Reception to Year 3 Sports Morning, held early in the term, were days when our girls shone on the track and in the field. Whether taking part in activities for the very first time, challenging themselves in new events, or cheering for their House, these days are always wonderful opportunities for our community to gather and celebrate.
This term also saw a number of our students getting involved in service-learning opportunities, supporting their local communities and those further away. Year 10 students cooked and served a three-course meal at the Mary Mags Centre, while Year 11 and 12 students learnt to knit. The goal was to make as many squares as possible that could be turned into blankets for those in our community who are sleeping rough this winter.
Term 2 was also rich with co-curricular activities and involvement. We hosted the state da Vinci Decathlon and were represented by three outstanding teams. Our musicians and singers shone on stage at Generations in Jazz. The Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre was filled with dancing and singing as Fusical was brought to life, while each week Saints was represented by hundreds of students on the sporting fields, playing netball, hockey, soccer, badminton, and AFL, just to name a few.
Term 2 can sometimes be viewed by those in education as the ‘quieter’ of the four terms, a message which apparently hasn’t reached Saints Girls and not something I think we would really want. It has been a term filled with gathering, community, and learning. Our girls and staff have worked with tremendous focus across the 10 weeks while still finding time to laugh, have fun, and enjoy each other’s company.
We wish all students, families, and staff a restful and relaxing term break and look forward to welcoming everyone back, ready to take on all that Term 3 brings.
