AROUND THE SCHOOL

On Tuesday 10 June, the Head of Middle School, Head of Senior School, and Principal took on the ice bucket challenge during Saints Girls’ very own Big Freeze event, all in support of FightMND. This spectacle marked the culmination of a successful fundraising campaign, with the School community rallying together to raise over $6,500 for FightMND.

FightMND is an organisation dedicated to finding effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Motor Neurone Disease. The ice bucket challenge symbolises the sudden shock and loss of control that people with MND experience as their muscles weaken and everyday movements become more difficult. By taking part, our School community stands in solidarity with those affected and helps support the vital research and care provided by FightMND.

The lunchtime festivities were action-packed as Year 12 students faced off in a spirited AFL match, pitting the STEM girls against the Humanities girls. After a hard-fought game, the STEM side emerged victorious. At halftime, the three School Leaders took on the ice bucket challenge.

Throughout the event, donuts were sold to boost donations, while the School’s Rock Band kept the energy high with live music.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, played, and cheered. Your generosity and enthusiasm made this Big Freeze event successful. Together, we are making a difference in the fight against MND.
