Year 2s Discover the Wonders of the Adelaide Planetarium!
This term, our Year 2 students embarked on an unforgettable journey to the Adelaide Planetarium, where they had the chance to explore the wonders of space! The students were captivated as they learned about different celestial objects, from distant stars to fascinating planets, all while being surrounded by the planetarium’s immersive dome experience.
The students were treated to a hilarious movie featuring a dog called Tycho, who journeyed to the moon, sparking lots of laughter and curiosity. It was the perfect mix of education and entertainment.
To wrap up the day, the students worked in small groups to complete a series of STEM challenges. By solving problems and deciphering clues, they unlocked the final quiz question, adding a fun twist to their learning experience. This hands-on approach helped foster teamwork and problem-solving skills, while deepening their enthusiasm for our current inquiry unit on space.
The visit to the Adelaide Planetarium was a fantastic way to bring the cosmos to life, inspiring our young learners and igniting a passion for discovery. We look forward to seeing how their newfound knowledge will continue to shine throughout our unit!

Year 4 Challenge Day: Building Tomorrow’s Team Players
Year 4 students embraced an exciting Challenge Day on Monday 3 March, with Active Education specialists guiding activities designed to develop teamwork and group cohesion.
“These challenges helped us build courage, compassion and creativity while learning to collaborate effectively,” shared Aanya at our Year 4 Assembly.
In Canadian Rock, Paper, Scissors, students practiced decision-making as the unsuccessful player took steps backward until reaching ‘splits or a banana split!’ Meanwhile, Alphabet Soup tested coordination as teams raced to touch letters in sequence without touching the ground, with Patteson and Kennion Houses creating the ‘Eggplant Dance’ during breaks.
The Continuous Motion challenge required students to engineer pathways using pipes to transport a ball continuously. This activity revealed natural leaders and strengthened group dynamics.
For the Toxic Waste activity, teams created rope-and-hoop tools to safely move containers while following safety protocols, demonstrating strategic thinking and effective role assignment.
“Challenge Day 2025 was the best,” concluded Maddie. The Year 4 group learned that when they combine their strengths, even the toughest challenges become exciting opportunities!
“Challenge Day gave us so many opportunities. I learned if you think someone isn’t capable of something, let them have a go. They might be good at it and to never underestimate anyone. Challenge Day in 2025 was the best!” Genevieve.
