Year 6 Entrepreneur & Radio Star Maya Shines Bright
Year 6 student Maya has recently set out on an impressive entrepreneurial journey and quickly become a familiar voice on KIIS FM during the school holidays.
Maya has mastered the art of creating colourful, beautiful loom bands for children and adults. Her talent and enthusiasm recently captured the attention of popular KIIS FM hosts Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton at the AFL Gather Round in Adelaide, where she gleefully sold them some of her handmade creations.
Ben and Liam were so impressed that they tracked Maya down and invited her to speak on air! This has turned out to be the beginning of what has become a delightful ongoing collaboration. The duo also decided to go into business with Maya, campaigning enthusiastically for her growing venture and calling her daily for live on-air updates.
Her rising profile has opened the door to even more exciting opportunities, including selling a loom band to Peter Malinauskas MP and joining him for a radio segment, an impressive milestone for such a young entrepreneur.
With support from Ben and Liam, Maya now has her own website, mayaswristbands.com, helping her small business reach an even bigger audience.
Yesterday, Maya had a fantastic time selling her handmade loom bands at a pop-up shop in Pasadena. The event, organised by Ben and Liam, will see a portion of proceeds donated to the Animal Welfare League. The story has even caught the attention of Channel 7 News, so be sure to tune in tonight at 6.45pm!
Creative and courageous, Maya is doing a fantastic job in combining her passion with young entrepreneurship. We are so proud of her and can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next.

Reception Girls Embark on a Wild Adventure!
Our Reception girls went wild at Wittunga Nature Play as part of our inquiry Places can be special to people for a variety of reasons. The girls engaged in stories and sharing about nature with Cameron and Jasper, the Nature Play teachers, which led to play provocations with the mud kitchens, loose parts play and cubby construction!
The day was filled with fun, excitement, and most importantly, rich learning that the girls will take with them for years to come!
