ROWING
2025 School Premiership Series #2 Regatta
Saturday 1 February was the first regatta of 2025, with regattas now scheduled every week until the 2025 SA Schools’ Head of the River in Week 7. Conditions were hot, but were otherwise perfect, with gentle following winds pushing crews along.
After their efforts on the 2025 January Rowing Camp, it was exciting to see how our crews would improve and perform. Across the board, it was impressive to see our crews performing strongly and making positive changes! There were some strong results with our Junior Squad taking wins in the 8D, 9D, and 9C crews. More impressive still, though, was how our crews implemented the changes they have been working on with crews improving between their heats and finals.
Similarly, our First 8+ produced a strong performance in their heat to qualify directly to the A Final. Meanwhile the First 4+ raced for the first time in earnest, and placed a creditable 5th – given some disruptions were experienced during their race, it will be exciting to watch how the 4+ can build on this result.
The Intermediate squad won.
Well done to all of our crews, and get excited for the 2025 SA Schools’ Head of the River coming up in Week 7!

2025 January Rowing Camp
Although the summer holidays are for most a time to rest and relax, with the 2025 SA Schools’ Head of the River fast approaching, they are also a crucial opportunity to train and prepare! Before we returned to school, all of our Rowing squads took to Mannum for the 2025 January Camp. Camp was staggered with the Seniors attending for the full six days, and the Intermediate and Junior squads split over the camp.
Camp aims to provide our students with a training block to build their fitness and their technical skills in preparation for the upcoming competitions in Term 1. For many of our Junior Rowers this was their first ever rowing camp; there is no doubt camp can be tough but the girls showed great resilience in adapting to a new environment and training multiple times per day.
Camp isn’t all just work, with all squads taking part in games nights during the camp. It was wonderful to see our students’ creativity on full display during “Taskmaster: Mannum” although it has led me to reflect on how observant I am.
Camp concluded with our traditional omnium, with all crews present competing side-by-side. We look forward to seeing what success Saints Girls can achieve in the 2025 racing season. Go Saints!

Phoebe on the Road to Recovery and Greatness!
Phoebe Lucas has been listed by The Advertiser as one of the Top young South Australia athletes to watch in 2025.
Despite being out injured for most of 2024, Phoebe maintained her involvement in Saints sports, attending trainings for her chosen sports (Hockey, Aussie Rules, and Cricket) and participating where she could. She also assisted with officiating and team management, and was part of our Student Mentoring Program, helping coach and guide our younger students.
Phoebe is well on the road to recovery, we cannot wait to see her back competing for Saints this year.
On top of this, Phoebe has been selected for the U16 State Hockey team playing at Nationals from 31 March – 7 April in Adelaide. This is a particularly great achievement and credit to Phoebe’s hard work and dedication to make the team after coming back from an ACL injury.
Well done Phoebe, wishing you the best of luck at Nationals!
Annabelle Takes State Equestrian Title
Congratulations to Annabelle Knowles who was awarded the 2024 SA Interschool Intermediate Show Hunter State Title for the riding of her Show Horse Pinjarra Park Dream On. This is the second year in a row Annabelle has won the Interschool State Show Hunter title but is the first time that she has won the 2024 season title.
Well done Anabelle, good luck moving towards Show Jumping and Eventing!
Lucy Plays in U16 State Cricket Team
Congratulations to Lucy Lowry who travelled to Tasmania in January to compete in the U16 State Cricket team. Lucy and her team had a great tournament, finishing with 2 wins and 4 losses.
Well done Lucy, what a great achievement!
Amelia Makes History at All Australian All Schools Championships
Congratulations to Amelia Sheridan who travelled to Brisbane in December 2024 for the Australian All Schools Championships representing South Australia. Amelia took second place in the U14 Girls 800m final with a fantastic time of 2:12.44. Amelia won Gold in the U14 Girls 1500m with a time of 4:24.69. This was an absolutely remarkable run giving Amelia the State U14, U16 and U18 Records as well as the Championship Record!
An incredible result, well done Amelia!
