A Transformative STEM Experience Awaits

This year at St Peter’s Girls, we are expanding STEM opportunities like never before, opening doors for our students to explore the cutting edge of technology, industry, and innovation. In addition to welcoming Miss Amelia Grigson as our Scientist in Residence, we are preparing for one of the year’s biggest STEM events, Girls in Tech Expo.

Now in its seventh year, Girls in Tech Expo continues to evolve, offering Year 5 and 6 students the opportunity to engage in hands-on workshops, interactive challenges, and industry mentorship. While the event highlights a broad range of STEM fields, including food science, sports technology, robotics, AI, and coding, this year’s expo places a special focus on digital technologies and cybersecurity, with key industry leaders such as Rising Sun Pictures and the Australian Information Security Association guiding students through these rapidly growing fields.

To further enhance the experience, we are linking with Mirror XR to bring the Shards of Memories Fringe Show, the first AI-led Vtuber AR/VR event in the Southern Hemisphere, directly to our students. This exciting collaboration, part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival, will introduce students to the intersection of artificial intelligence and immersive storytelling, reinforcing our commitment to exploring the newest frontiers of STEM.

Girls in Tech Expo will also feature an Advanced Digital Arts Lab, a CSIRO drone pilot experience, and sessions with STEM leaders such as STEM Punks, GROK Academy, AI Camp, Saab, and BAE, ensuring students gain firsthand exposure to emerging technologies and real-world STEM applications.

Girls in Tech is more than just an event; it is a launchpad for young women to see themselves as innovators, problem-solvers, and future STEM leaders. With an inspiring lineup of industry experts, hands-on learning, and cutting-edge digital experiences, we look forward to seeing our students explore, experiment, and embrace the limitless possibilities of STEM.
