Year 12 Drama and IB Theatre Production

The Year 12 Drama and IB Theatre students are in the process of workshopping and rehearsing their major production, The Shape of Mind. The first act of the play explores the events of a single day: that of a Year 1 class returning to school on the first day of a new year, focusing on a handful of the students, their parents, and the class’s ageing teacher. The second act is set twenty-four years later and explores the unfolding stories of a selection of the characters from the first act.  The final act returns to a day near the end of the school year for those children and their teacher and so provides a glimpse into how the present is influenced by the past, and the future by both. Through this structure, the play explores the variety of things that shape what is to come: the actions of others; the almost insignificant simple things; the people we carry; the thoughts that subtly nag us; the nature we have; the circumstances that nurture us; and ultimately what we choose to become.

Funny, poignant and thought-provoking, performances will take place on Wednesday 7 May and Thursday 8 May at 7pm. Mark it in your diary, invite your friends and family, book your free tickets, and enjoy the exceptional skills of our Year 12 Drama and Theatre students.

Election Day at Saints Café

Saturday 3 May is Election Day, and Saints Girls’ is hosting a polling booth. Our Year 12 Food and Hospitality students and the Fiji and Service Learning students will be opening Saints Café for the morning and cooking up an amazing sausage sizzle during the day.

The café will be selling barista-made coffee and hot chocolate and a variety of amazing treats created by the Food and Hospitality students. This will include items such as mini quiches, sausage rolls, vegemite and cheese scrolls, scones with cream and home-made jam, macarons, bliss balls and a variety of tasty biscuits. Get in quick as these home-made items will sell out quickly.

Funds raised will be donated to the Fiji Service Learning trip and our four House charities. Throughout the year students help to raise money to support their House charities in addition to practical service alongside these organisations. The four charities that we support are:

  • Selwyn – The Smith Family
  • Kennion – KickStart for Kids
  • Kilburn – Treasure Boxes
  • Patteson – Mary Mags Dinners
