Year 8 Production – Lost In Time

The Saints Girls’ community is invited to join us for the upcoming Year 8 Production Lost In Time, showcasing the students’ talents in Drama, Dance, Music and Visual Arts. Lost in Time follows Dr. Humperdink, her assistant Justine and her nieces on a chaotic time-travel adventure. Stranded across history – from the Stone Age to 1920s jazz clubs – they race to gather the missing machine parts and return to 2024. The Year 8 students have taken the lead in creating choreography, selecting the songs, directing scenes and coordinating the costumes and sets, making this event a true celebration of collaboration and creativity!

Lost in Time
Friday 22 November, 7pm
Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre

Admission is free – reserve your tickets here.

Senior Performing Arts Showcase

Next Thursday evening, the Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre will be a hub of creativity as our Year 10 and 11 Dance and Drama students present both directed and student-created work.

Year 10 Drama students have been studying the work of Konstantin Stanislavski, a Russian director and actor who developed one of the first and most enduring systems of acting training to support realistic acting on stage. Their two pieces, from a piece called ‘Same Room, Different Story’ are an acting exercise in applying Stanislavski’s techniques.

Stage 1 dancers will present their own choreography based around the theme ‘TRAPPED’, which they have interpreted in many ways. Our IB students will perform both solo and group compositions, showcasing their creativity by presenting global themes and ideas through dance.

Please come along to support! No ticket required.

Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

This year, the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival was on Tuesday, 17 September, and our Middle School and Senior School students joined in celebrating this important cultural occasion during their Chinese lessons.

Our Year 11 IB Chinese B students celebrated the festival by tasting mooncakes, enjoying tea, and participating in a Blooket quiz on the traditions of this significant festival. They also explored Chinese idioms associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival, deepening their understanding of Chinese language and culture.
A special thank you goes to our Year 11 parents for providing mooncakes and helping enrich our students’ experience of Chinese food culture and customs.

Year 7 Chinese Celebration

On Thursday 19 September, our Year 7 Chinese and EAL/D students came together to enjoy a delicious meal from Chef Dong’s Chinese restaurant. This event offered a wonderful opportunity to share a meal and learn about the cultural importance of Chinese cuisine.

After lunch, some students tried traditional Chinese outdoor games like jumping elastic bands and kicking the shuttlecock (毽子Jianzi), while others engaged with the history and customs of the Mid-Autumn Festival through an interactive Gimkit quiz.

A heartfelt thank you goes to one of our Year 7 parents for kindly delivering spring rolls, adding an extra delicious touch to our celebration!

Absentee Notice – Parent Information 2024

Under the Education Act 1972 (SA) and the Education (Compulsory Education Age) Amendment Act 2007, schools are required to ensure students enrolled at the school, attend and participate in the learning program. We firmly believe maximising school attendance enhances academic and wellbeing outcomes.

We accept there are circumstances such as family emergencies and opportunities for girls to participate in various competitions, sporting and otherwise that necessitate absence from School. We also recognise participation in co-curricular programs outside of St Peter’s Girls can be an important part of a student’s development and education.

Applications for leave outside of school holidays must be submitted in writing to the relevant Head of Sub-School for review. Of the 365 days in a year, approximately 50% are designated school days. To maintain the continuity and integrity of your daughter’s education, it is important she attend all compulsory school days. When parents wish to remove their child from School during term time for the purposes of leisure, family travel or holiday it will be recorded as unapproved leave. Please note, that teachers will not supply work during periods of unapproved leave. As has always been the case, illness substantiated by a medical certificate will be the only circumstance under which the rescheduling of an assessment task in the Senior School will be warranted.

Term dates for 2024 and 2025 are available on the School website.
