Last week, St Peter’s Girls’ School celebrated Languages Week across the Junior School. Students from Mid-Year Reception to Year 6 participated in a variety of culturally rich activities hosted by our fabulous Chinese and French language teachers. This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about a new culture or further develop their understanding of the language they study at Saints Girls.
Activities ranged from French pétanque, learning of songs, arts and crafts, and Chinese shuttlecock. There was a buzz in the air across all year levels and it was wonderful to see students engaging in a range of new activities with their peers. We look forward to announcing the quiz winners later this week!

Congratulations to our Year 4 Poetry Winners!
Year 4 French students studied a unit on Poetry during Term 4, part of which involved learning a set poem to recite in order to enter the South Australian French Teachers’ Association Poetry Competition.
This year, three Year 4 students entered videos into the competition, and we congratulate Claire Lucas on receiving first place and Erica Park for receiving an Honourable Mention for their performances of ‘Super Skate’, an Olympic-themed poem about the feeling of skateboarding.
Entries are judged on memorisation, fluency, pronunciation and overall performance.
Well done Claire and Erica on your excellent work!

Absentee Notice – Parent Information 2024
Under the Education Act 1972 (SA) and the Education (Compulsory Education Age) Amendment Act 2007, schools are required to ensure students enrolled at the school, attend and participate in the learning program. We firmly believe maximising school attendance enhances academic and wellbeing outcomes.
We accept there are circumstances such as family emergencies and opportunities for girls to participate in various competitions, sporting and otherwise that necessitate absence from School. We also recognise participation in co-curricular programs outside of St Peter’s Girls can be an important part of a student’s development and education.
Applications for leave outside of school holidays must be submitted in writing to the relevant Head of Sub-School for review. Of the 365 days in a year, approximately 50% are designated school days. To maintain the continuity and integrity of your daughter’s education, it is important she attend all compulsory school days. When parents wish to remove their child from School during term time for the purposes of leisure, family travel or holiday it will be recorded as unapproved leave. Please note, that teachers will not supply work during periods of unapproved leave. As has always been the case, illness substantiated by a medical certificate will be the only circumstance under which the rescheduling of an assessment task in the Senior School will be warranted.
Term dates for 2024 and 2025 are available on the School website.
