The girl’s effort was second to none today. Ball movement and run in attack was stagnant at stages, however, once addressed it was one of the highlights in the second half. Effort in defence was outstanding from everyone. Overall, it was a great team performance and one that each of the girls can be proud of.
Best Player: Abbey Phillips

The Invincibles! Year 6 Finish Unbeaten!
Yet another fantastic game to round off the term – the Year 6s remain invincible! The girls were on a mission to finish undefeated, bringing great energy and focus to their serves and movement on serve reception.
Best Player: Rosedale Li showed outstanding consistency, winning her serves and setting up strong rallies with high passes. It’s been incredible to see their hard work pay off, adapting to new skills and tactical changes each week. We couldn’t be prouder of their progress and can’t wait to see them continue to grow in Term 4 and beyond!

Senior A: Saints (2/64) vs Walford (1/48)
Following on from the Open B winning match you could tell how much this match meant to the girls and could cut the tense air with a freshly sharpened fishing knife. Behind the blue painted faces and battle-braided hair there was a steely determination to put the previous matches for the term behind us and make a statement we are ‘Here to Play!’
In a tense start to the match, Walford were out of the blocks early and the Saints nerves were high and dare I say it a little brittle. Once Saints settled, we started to build rhythm and win the net contests. Lily Forby subbed in to add some extra attacking power and serving improved with Captain Annabel Keough steadying the ship with a strong serving run. Gifting the first set 14-25 to Walford was a bitter pill to swallow, but determination was high for the ‘Comeback Queens!’
Opening the second set with super strong serving runs and impact player Januri Wagaarachchi starting meant we got out in front and were never headed. Our two sensational setters Nishka Soodan and Alannah Godfrey kicked into gear putting up bombs for all the team to smash into the depths of Walford’s despair. Walford had little answer with the blocking power of Asha Eaton, Ella Warwick and Angelina Tran setting up a wall higher, stronger and more impassible than the Great Wall of China. Defensive specialist Keira See made sure the ball never hit the floor by chasing and diving more smoothly than a swan coming into land. Walford were stunned into inaction and capitulated in despair with Saints smashing the 2nd set 25-7.
And the shield came down to the last set of this final match. Both teams came out swinging like two heavyweight boxers in a prize fight, neither backing down an inch. At 11-9 Anna Venning stepped onto court and made sure Walford remembered who she was by attacking play after play after play. Serving runs from Annabel and Alannah put pressure on Walford and the cracks began to appear in Walford’s fast dissipating confidence. Saints started to edge ahead with Annabel dropping bombs that exploded Walford’s confidence in their quest for an answer.
Supported by an amazing crowd of Saints supporters, Saints Senior A’s come from behind win was one that will go down in the annuals of School history as a whole School effort, ensuring the Intercol Volleyball shield was returned to its rightful home in the St Peter’s Girls’ School trophy cabinet. The enthusiastic rendition of the School song showed fantastic School spirit to close out an amazing match and finish the season on a high!
GO SAINTS!!
Best Player: Annabel Keough
Superwomen: The whole team!!!
Senior B: Saints (2/50) vs Walford (0/29)
After a slightly tentative start but with the Senior A girls in full vocal support from the sideline, Naomi Meng served up a storm to lift the team’s confidence higher than cirrus cloud. Ashmitha Ramesh followed with a serving run that Walford had little answer to. Super defensive scrambling to keep the ball alive stunned Walford with Saints sending the ball over in some exceptional cover returns.
Walford dug in at the start of the 2nd set determined not to let the second set to be a repeat of the first. Walford were pressing and extending their lead but step up Christie Cheng to serve with skill and confidence that had Walford searching for answers and finding none. The rest of the team rallied around the serves with enthusiastic battle cries from Jasmine Cetincol – the team closed out the 2nd set easily.
With what only can be described as joyous enthusiasm, the girls took to the court in the 3rd set confidence of already securing the match win but wanting to add to the set tally to give every chance for the shield to come home.
Never in doubt the girls closed the match and season with a fantastic Intercol win!!
Best Player: Naomi Meng
Superwomen: whole team!!!
Senior C: Saints (1/71) vs Walford (2/67)
Best Players: Maddie Oborn, Gemma Phan and Annabel Bamford.
Senior D Blue: Saints (1/62) vs Walford (2/70)
Superwoman: Nathalie Randeniya
Best Player: Kate Wang
Middle A: Saints (2/50) vs Walford (0/37)
The Middle A girls kept their composure and played their brand of volleyball, showing real class in attack with controlled three-touch rallies. A slow start in serve reception didn’t last long, and some girls were asked to serve overarm and unsurprisingly, many hit their serves —proof that their hard work in training is paying off.
Today, the girls came to compete, to perform, and to win. Most importantly, they had fun. They’ve grown so much this term, and with more experience and confidence, the best is yet to come!
Best Player: Aoife Carty for her calm, reliable presence and smart finishes at the net. Special mention to captain Chloe Sturt, who led by example with strong net play and great team spirit.
