U13/U17 Australian National Team & Individual Badminton Championships

Hailey (Year 6) and Caitlyn (Year 8) have represented South Australia at the U13 and U17 state level respectively, at the National Badminton Championships held in Ballarat recently. For Hailey, this was her first National Championship and along with having a great experience and making new friends, Hailey also achieved some great results! Hailey and her Girls Double partner finished No. 1 in the consolation game, whilst the U13 team placed fourth overall. Well done, Hailey! I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of you at this high level.

Caitlyn jumped up to the U17 division after competing in the U15s last year and was invited to participate in the National High Performance Training Camp in the lead up, where she had a great experience. Caitlyn had a tough draw, coming up against higher seeded players in both the singles and mixed doubles, but she proved she could hold her own. Caitlyn and her mixed doubles partner caused an upset in the first round, beating the current U15 Nationals Mixed Doubles champion and his new partner in straight sets! The two thirteen-year-olds then took it to the Number 1 seeds in the second round, taking points and almost a set off them, but ultimately going down in a close battle. In the Girls and Mixed Doubles competition, South Australia finished fifth, and in the singles, Caitlyn lost in the second round to the number one seeded opponent.

Awesome work, girls!

17&U Water Polo National Championships

Congratulations to Year 11 students, Olivia and Isabella who competed at the Water Polo Nationals on the Gold Coast! It was a tough competition, coming up against much larger Water Polo states. The girls had one win against Tasmania and came away with a lot of learnings and new friendships.

Saints Girls represent South Australia in Lacrosse

Well done to Lois Burton-Howard, Chelsea Francis, Ruby Kelly, Maddie Romeo, Hayley Lucas, Matilda Purvis, Amelia Livley, Tilly Birmingham and Willow Chong who were selected to represent South Australia in the Under 15 National Lacrosse Tournament, held at Glenelg Lacrosse Club during the holidays. There were 10 teams from Australia and New Zealand competing, and the South Australian team Lightning (Chelsea Francis) took out first place. The Comets (Amelia Lively, Lois Burton-Howard, Tilly Birmingham, Ruby Kelly, Matilda Purvis and Willow Chong) finished in third position overall.

U14 National Hockey Championships

Claris Stolcman (Year 8) represented South Australia at the U14 Hockey Nationals in Perth over the holidays. Her team came away with multiple wins and draws, and a few close losses that could have easily gone SA’s way. The team finished 10th overall and Claris was awarded Player of the match twice in the competition. Well done Claris!

Term 2 & 3 Middle/Senior Winter Sport Awards

Well done to all students who participated in co-curricular sports in Terms 2 and 3. With over 520 Middle and Senior student nominations, 36 teams and 11 different programs on offer, it’s great to see sport go from strength to strength each term, and the Saints spirit well and truly alive within our co-curricular programs.

Congratulations to the students who received awards as recognised by their coaches. To view the list of award recipients and the comments by coaches, click here.
