A Journey Through the Unique Pathways at St Peter’s Girls’ School

At St Peter’s Girls’ School, we often speak about the unique learning pathways that shape our students from their earliest days through to graduation. Every student’s journey is distinct, but the same values of courage, compassion, and creativity guide all.

The journey begins in the Early Learners’ Centre, where curiosity is embraced and children are encouraged to explore, question, and imagine. Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy and guided by the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, our youngest learners see themselves as capable, resilient, and full of potential.

In the Junior School, curiosity is transformed into deeper thinking. Literacy and numeracy foundations are strengthened, while inquiry-based projects broaden horizons. By Year 6, students showcase their learning through the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition, presenting solutions to real-world challenges with confidence and clarity.

Middle School brings opportunities to discover new strengths. Guided by subject specialists, students are supported as they navigate the transition from childhood to adolescence. Signature initiatives, such as Futures in Years 7 and 8, invite girls to explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and real-world problem-solving. A strong emphasis on STEM and interdisciplinary learning fosters critical thinking and creativity, while EDGE provides targeted extension and support, ensuring every learner is challenged at the right level. Outdoor Education begins to stretch confidence and teamwork through camps and skill-building experiences and leadership grows through House Charities and iconic traditions like Choral Night, advancing learning while fostering self-development and community-mindedness.

In the Senior years, students choose the pathway that best matches their learning style: the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) or the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Students work with specialist teachers who pair high expectations with strong pastoral care. Senior learning develops independence and purpose through extended inquiry, real-world application, and leadership. EDGE continues for advanced enrichment, Outdoor Education culminates in more demanding expeditions, and EmpowerHER strengthens wellbeing and agency. Senior leadership opportunities, such as Prefect roles, House leadership, mentoring younger students, and creative direction for Choral Night, provide girls with authentic forums to lead, serve, and showcase their talents.

By graduation, our girls leave with more than academic results. They carry with them experiences that have challenged, stretched, and inspired them. These pathways shape young women of character and influence who are ready to make a meaningful impact in the world.
