A great first game team performance with some girls playing their first ever basketball game, as well as a keen Year 2 Willow Bannear making her basketball debut. Everyone gave 100% effort until the very end of the game which is all I asked for.
Best Player: Advika Desai, Claire Lucas, Summer Bannear and Rebecca Xia.
Superwoman: Aashna Bhatt played the majority of the game, scored a majority of the points, played a majority of the defence, and made a majority of the passes. More importantly, she took on the responsibility of trying to help her teammates be in the right spots and understand the game a little better.

Well done to everyone. A great team effort, where I saw the girls try to put what we practised into their games. Very proud.

Cross-Country Season
Our Cross-Country teams have had a great season this year. A number of our Senior girls have raced for several years at Saints Girls, while some of our youngest runners formed our first-ever Primary teams. These younger girls have appreciated the encouragement and coaching tips provided by their mentors Elodie, India and Ava.
For the SAAS Cross Country Shield, teams earn points based on their finish positions across a series of five races. With the Senior and Middle teams winning their divisions, and the Primary team finishing third, we claimed the SAAS Shield for Best Girls School.
Some students ran at the State Championships at Oakbank in June with outstanding results:
- 11 Year Olds: Lucy Dougherty 3rd in the East Adelaide representative team
- 13 Year Olds: Millie Sheridan 1st
- 15 Year Olds: India Goodall 1st
- 15 Year Olds Teams: India Goodall, Ava Fox, Birdie Black and Isabella Blake 1st
- 16 Year Olds: Elodie de Wit 3rd
- Open: Daisy Braithwaite 3rd, Ava Field 5th
We also participated in a series of Head-to-Head races where we matched our results against a designated school each week. Saints Girls won all three events against Loreto, Wilderness and Concordia.
The finale to the season was a relay event, we had six teams entered with four teams placing; Primary won 1st and 3rd places, Middle came 3rd and Senior finished 2nd.
We hope to see more girls joining Cross Country in 2025. It’s a great way to keep fit and enjoy a mid-week run with friends.
