Learning Community 2
Research can Support and Promote Collaboration
Since arriving back to ELC for Term 3, the children in Learning Community 2 have become curious about the changes they have noticed in Ferguson Park. The beautiful Golden Wattle which has started to bloom has sparked conversation amongst the children, and they have started to share their thoughts and knowledge with each other.
We have started venturing into the park which has provided the children with opportunities to think like scientists, honing in on their research and observational skills. These visits have also continued to support the children in collaborating to co-construct their learning, particularly when it comes to sharing our ideas and listening to the ideas of others. This sense of collaboration has extended to many aspects of our visits to Ferguson Park; the children have practised taking turns to carry the basket, ensuring we stay together as a group and showing each other the little specimens that have been collected.
One thing that has caught the children’s attention has been the various bird calls and sounds we hear as we walk through the park. This has allowed the children to tune their ears into these sounds, using various senses to take in their surroundings and construct ideas. It has been so lovely to see the children working together to develop their research skills. Ferguson Park continues to be a place of harmony, research and culture and we look forward to continuing these explorations this term.

ELC Book Week Parade
The ELC Book Week Parade will be held on Wednesday 21 August (Week 5). This year’s theme is Reading is Magic.
Book Week is an exciting time for our youngest learners as it celebrates the magic and significance of reading and storytelling. Books transport children to new worlds, fostering creativity and imagination. They play a crucial role in supporting language, cognitive, social, and emotional development, laying the foundation for early literacy and instilling a lifelong love of reading.
All children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character for the Parade!
The Parade will commence at 9.30am on the Chapel Path, behind the ELC in the School followed by a shared story time on Chiverton Lawns. Please ensure your child is signed in and dropped off at their class by 9.00 am if they are attending on the day of the Parade. If your child does not usually attend on this day, they are still welcome to participate in the parade; however, due to staffing requirements, you will need to stay and take your child home afterwards.
Families and treasured friends are warmly invited to join us and enjoy the parade.
We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating the magic of reading together!

ELC Learning and Teaching Evening
Please join us on Wednesday 7 August at 6.30pm for our Learning and Teaching Evening at the ELC.
The evening will start with a gathering in the School Chapel, where families will have a chance to meet our Director of Early Learners’ Centre, Liz Schembri.
Later on, you will be able to visit your child’s room to see the environment and gain a better understanding of the teaching and learning within our ELC context. Parents will also hear from the teaching team about how we plan and implement our units of inquiry.
As this is a formal presentation, we recommend parents/guardians only attend this event.
This event is for Learning Community 1 (Stonyfell and Bell Yett) and Learning Community 2 (Pathway Ferguson and Pathway Hallett) families only. Erindale families will not need to attend this event.
