The Ponytail Project

This year, with overwhelming support, students across Years 7 to 12 have agreed to take part in the Ponytail Project again for the second year in a row. The Ponytail Project is an initiative that raises funds for cancer research while donating hair to be made into wigs for people undergoing treatment. Today, a group of courageous students took part in cutting their ponytails in support of this cause, showing incredible compassion and commitment to helping others. A great demonstration of this year’s Prefect theme to be #Here4Her.
The Ponytail Project reminds us that even small acts can make a meaningful difference. By donating our hair and raising funds, our students are helping provide support for cancer patients and pushing forward vital research and services.
The money raised will be donated to Cancer Council and our ponytails will be donated to Sustainable Salons which create wigs for people undergoing cancer treatment.
If you would like to support our participants for 2026 and help us make an even greater impact, please consider donating by clicking on the button below:
Every contribution, big or small, helps us support those affected by cancer and continues to grow the strength of our Saints Girls community.
Next week, highlights of today’s event will be shared in eNews. We thank our students, staff and community for their ongoing support.

Welcoming Jackson Mack to Saints Girls
We are excited to announce that renowned drummer, Jackson Mack, will be joining the Saints Girls Music Department in Term 2. Jackson still has a few slots available for eager drum students, so if you would like to learn from one of Adelaide’s best, please apply via clipboard.
As a drummer, Jackson has performed with leading artists, including Jazzmeia Horn, James Muller, Victor Gould, and Clayton Doley. He was a finalist for the James Morrison Scholarship at the Generations in Jazz Festival, and this year he will perform with the Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra on the GIJ main stage. He performs regularly in Adelaide across a range of styles, including jazz, theatre, and contemporary music.
Jackson is a passionate music educator, teaching drum kit and composition students, while also directing school ensembles across Adelaide. He has extensive experience working with big bands, jazz combos, and percussion ensembles, helping students develop strong rhythmic skills, stylistic understanding, and ensemble awareness. His teaching focuses on practical musicianship, encouraging students to listen, respond, and perform with confidence in a group setting.
Drawing on his professional experience, Jackson gives students insight into real-world performance practice, including rehearsal techniques, stylistic interpretation, and improvisation. He is committed to creating a fun and positive learning environment, supporting students of all levels to build confidence, creativity, and a strong connection to music.
Jackson holds a Bachelor of Music (Advanced) with First Class Honours from the Elder Conservatorium of Music at the University of Adelaide. In addition to teaching and performing, he composes and arranges music for student ensembles, creating charts that are both educational and engaging.
