Healthy Pizza Making Fun
Our Year 3 girls had a wonderful opportunity to work with our Year 11 Food and Hospitality students to make pizzas. Our Senior girls visited the classrooms first to talk about healthy choices and plan some delicious toppings for our pizza-making. We talked about balanced food groups and the joy of trying new things. We then gathered together in the Food Tech kitchen to roll the dough, spread the sauce and arrange the toppings on our very own creations. After they were cooked, we spent time in the sunshine together eating and enjoying the beautiful experience of sisterhood. Thank you to Jenni Manson and her Year 11 Food Tech students for a fabulous morning.

Year 5 Excursion to the Adelaide Central Market
Last week, our Year 5 students embarked on a hands-on learning adventure at the Adelaide Central Market. The bustling market provided the perfect backdrop for a real-world application of mathematics.
The purpose of the excursion was to challenge the girls to design a budget-conscious, healthy meal plan for a family of four. Working in small groups with a Parent Helper, the students carefully explored the stalls, comparing prices and considering value for money. With a strict budget of under $100, they had to ensure their menu was both nutritious and affordable, while also reflecting a balance of food groups.
The activity sparked plenty of lively discussion as the girls debated the merits of seasonal produce, portion sizes, and cost-saving swaps. Some groups were drawn to the colourful array of fresh fruit and vegetables, while others focused on staples such as pasta and lean proteins. Many discovered the importance of compromise, teamwork and creative thinking to stay within their budget.
The girls engaged respectfully with stallholders, asking thoughtful questions about local and sustainable produce. It was wonderful to see the girls making connections between classroom learning and everyday life, whether it was applying multiplication to calculate unit prices or considering the nutritional value of their meal choices.
The excursion was not only educational but also inspiring, leaving the girls with new skills in financial literacy, meal planning, and healthy living. These skills will serve them well beyond the classroom and many left the excursion inspired to create a meal plan for their own family and organise their groceries for the week!
