These results meant that for the second year running, St Peter’s Girls’ School won more divisions of the Schoolgirl Competition than any other school – an outstanding accomplishment by our girls! More impressive still was the quality of our performances, with crews setting season-best times, and the depth of our squads was evident when they outperformed crews in higher divisions.
Thank you to all the students and families who attended Head of the River and supported our crews throughout the day. I am always struck by the incredible School spirit that is shown at Head of the River, the way that our students support one another is part of what makes the culture of Saints Girls truly special.
As always, our sincere thanks also go to the Friends of Rowing for their efforts in setting up for the day and making the Saints Girls’ marquee a festive environment for our community. They provided an incredible atmosphere at the marquee, supplying food and refreshments.
This year also saw the introduction of a new hosting model for Head of the River, with Saints Girls and three other schools sharing the hosting responsibilities. A huge amount of work has been done over the past few months, organising volunteers and preparing to fulfil our hosting obligations. Thank you to all the Old Scholars, current students, parents, and staff who volunteered and helped with our co-hosting responsibilities. It was a monumental effort, but the sea of Saints Girls volunteers in blue on the weekend was a testament to our incredible School community.
Well done again to our students and coaching team on their efforts, and on their outstanding results!
Brynley Millward
Director of Rowing
