FROM OUR HEAD OF SENIOR SCHOOL

eNews |

As our Year 12 students approach the final stretch of their schooling journey, it can be an emotional and daunting time. Students may also feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for all that is to come, and of course, relief as they get closer to a well-deserved rest following final exams and assignments. Regardless of how a student might be feeling, these next few weeks promise to be filled with fun, friendships and of course, some school work!

For our Year 12 students, the last few weeks of Term 3 and early Term 4 are critical for consolidating learning, managing stress, and preparing for final exams and assessments. The School and families collectively are pivotal in supporting our girls through this time, not just academically, but emotionally and physically as well. With this in mind, I thought it was timely to provide some support to our families as they prepare to assist their daughters through a busy few months.

Encouraging a realistic study schedule can be helpful in managing tasks. Work with your daughter to map out a study timetable that balances study with breaks, sleep, family time, and self-care. Just as important is the location where your daughter is studying. A quiet, well-lit, and clutter-free space can significantly boost focus and productivity. Ideally, this space is free of distractions such as mobile phones.

During this time of the year, it’s easy for Year 12s to neglect sleep, nutrition, and exercise. Families can support their daughter by reminding them to rest, take short walks together or gently reminding the girls to head to bed each night at a reasonable hour. No beneficial study takes place in the early hours of the morning.

It’s normal at this time for Year 12 students to feel overwhelmed. Checking in, open conversations, and simply being present can make a big difference. As we support our Year 12s in these final weeks, let’s remind them that they’re not alone. They have the support of the whole Saints community behind them. We are incredibly proud of all that the Class of 2025 has achieved so far and we look forward with great excitement to see all that they accomplish in their final few weeks.
