Year 11 Retreat

In Week 4, the Year 11s took part in an overnight retreat held at Glenhaven Park, a picturesque campsite in Stockport. Across the two days, students took part in several fun but challenging activities, which required each Home Group to work as a team to complete. These activities included group initiatives, a high ropes course and the tower challenge. A favourite session of the retreat was the giant swing, where students and teachers alike were hoisted into the air by their Home Group and had to bravely pull a cord to release themselves into a free-fall drop. With several of the activities occurring well above the ground, quite a few participants had to face their fear of heights and were enthusiastically supported and encouraged by those around them.

Thursday night saw the cohort enjoy a movie night, complete with plenty of accompanying snacks. This evening gave the students a chance to relax, have a laugh with their friends and come together as a whole group. The Yr 11 retreat was a great opportunity for the students continue to build connections in both their Home Group and across the year level. The activities allowed individual strengths to shine while highlighting the importance of communication and collaboration in a group setting. It is hoped that the students will take the important lessons learnt on this retreat into the coming year as they step into the role of leaders of the School in 2026.
