Senior Division 3 Blue Saints (6/43) vs Wilderness (2/15)
Best Players: Taylor Muldoon, Anika Vaidya and Cindy Wang. Another great performance by the girls today. We still struggle to get a full team together, though that will start to hurt us if we move up to division 3 next year.

VOLLEYBALL

Year 4/5 Saints (0/35) vs Seymour Colelge (3/63)
Best Players: Angelique Brinias, Kostia Psaltis and Cindy Zhang. Unfortunately, we were without Thea and Hazel this week as they were away to the Year 5 camp. A big thank you to Ella Ding in Year 4 for stepping in to help the team. We had a slightly shaky start to the game, but the girls soon found their rhythm, improving their communication and overall spatial awareness – key areas they’ve been working on in training.
Superwoman: Angelique Brinias for taking on all feedback during sets and working hard to improve her game. She was one of the few players to deliver clean serves and win valuable points for the team.

Year 6 Blue Saints (3/75) vs Seymour College (0/44)
Best Player: Emma See

Senior A Saints (1/53) vs Seymour (1/43) WIN
Best Player: Annabel Keough
Superwoman: Valerie Ng. Valerie played her first open game and gave it everything. A see-sawing affair with lots of great rallies. A great entertaining match with all playing well.

Senior B Saints (1/65) vs Immanuel (2/73) LOSS
Best Player: Christy Cheng
Superwoman: Jasmin Cetinkol – she always brings the max energy.. Today was about staying confident and giving ourselves opportunities. We would get behind and fight back with the result being very close. Serving from Christy Cheng and Jasmin Cetinkol put pressure on the opposition getting us back into each set. Working on confidence and putting up high balls will make this team even more successful.

Senior C White Saints (2) vs Immanuel (1)

Senior C Silver Saints (1) vs Immanuel (2)

Senior D White Saints (2/70) vs Walford (1/67)

Senior D Silver Saints (0) vs Pulteney (3)
Best Player: Si Cheng

Middle A Saints (0) vs Seymour (3)
Best Player: Alice Bigg

Middle B Saints (1) vs Seymour (2)
Best Player: Emily Wu
Superwoman: Sophie Blake

Middle C Blue Saints (1/33) vs Westminster (2/71)
Best Player: Alexa Holyoak. The first and second sets were not very close, but then the team ended up winning the third set. They seemed to become more relaxed and confident as the game went on which I think is what helped them win the third set. If they could start the game with the same level of confidence in themselves, then I think they could be more successful in future games.

Middle C White Saints (1/58) vs Westminster (2/73)
Best Player: Faith Lawes. The team were very engaged in the game as the first and third sets were both very close (23-25). It was good to see them feeling a bit more competitive and invested in the outcome of the game. They were all very supportive of each other and cheering for each other a lot. I think working on serve receive against a consistent server could help them improve even more.

SAPSASA Knockout Volleyball

Congratulations to the following students who participated in the SAPSASA Volleyball:

  • Isla Bembridge
  • Rosedale Li
  • Emma See
  • Samaira Soodan
  • Parker Wilson
  • Almira Xu
  • Felicity Zhu

The girls had an enjoyable day of volleyball, showing great teamwork and improvement throughout their matches. While they didn’t come away with a win this time, there was plenty of growth and some impressive play. The team demonstrated strong skills and well-executed rallies but just couldn’t quite convert these into points. Well done to all the girls for their effort and positive spirit!

Saints Girls compete at the Lacrosse U/15 National Championships

During the mid-semester break nine of our Saints girls competed in the under 15 National Lacrosse Championships at the Wembley Lacrosse Club in Perth.  There were ten teams competing, including teams from Victoria, Western Australia, South Australia and New Zealand all vying for the coveted title of National Champions.

Matilda Purvis, Ivy Pratt, Matilda Birmingham, Ruby Kelly, Neela Malik, Amelia Lively, Louis Burton-Howard and Haley Lucas all played for the Comets. Matilda Birmingham and Ruby Kelly each won an MVP award for their performances in individual games. Matilda Purvis won a Lacrosse Australia Spirit of Lacrosse Medal for demonstrating a balance of competitive performance, integrity, sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the tournament.

It was the Lightning from South Australia, co-captained by Chelsea Francis, that won the National Championship, defeating Ice from Victoria in the Grand Final 17/11. Chelsea was also awarded the MVP for her performance in the semi-final.

Congratulations to all the girls for great week competing on a national stage.
