Taste, Talk, Explore: Year 9s Chinatown Adventure

Our Year 9 Chinese students enjoyed a vibrant and immersive excursion to Chinatown, combining language learning with cultural exploration.

As part of their real-world Chinese practice, students visited the restaurant Dumpling King, where they ordered their meals in Chinese. Using vocabulary and sentence patterns learned in class, each student selected a dish and enjoyed the food they had ordered — a delicious and empowering experience!

After lunch, students took part in a scavenger hunt, exploring Chinatown and identifying restaurants that represent different regional Chinese cuisines. This activity helped students connect language learning with cultural understanding, as they discovered the diversity of Chinese food culture across different regions.

It was a fantastic afternoon of learning, tasting, and exploring — a great way to bring the classroom into the real world!

Year 8 Arts Night

On Thursday evening of Week 6 (20 November) at 7pm, our talented Year 8 students will set centre stage of the Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre on fire for their most anticipated Arts Production in the history of Arts here at Saints Girls, Snapshots. The story, which is set during a bustling school lunch, centres on a mysterious Conductor who freezes time to reveal a group of children’s future lives, showing how their innocent dreams twist, fade, or come true in unexpected ways. From pop stars to billionaires, bullies to inventors, Snapshots is a profound exploration of how childhood moments shape the adults we all become and a reminder that no one can truly predict where life will lead us. “Someone once said life is a lottery.” This student-led production features our Year 8s imagination, leadership, and teamwork, where staff take a backseat and allow the students to really show off what they’ve learned about Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts this year. Come along next week and see our girls in action!
