Winter Interhouse 2025
Last week’s Winter Interhouse Competition displayed sporting skills and an abundance of House pride in our Middle and Senior students. Taking place at lunch time and after school, they competed in Hockey, Soccer, Aussie Rules, Netball and Badminton. Well done KENNION for winning the overall shield!
Congratulations to the following Houses for winning the respective shield:
- Hockey – Kennion
- Soccer – Kennion
- AFL – Patteson
- Netball – Kennion
- Badminton – Kennion
From Patteson House Captains Annabel Keough & Jackie Balasis:
Overall, the energy and effort shown by all the Patteson girls, as well as the girls from the other houses, was phenomenal. We had people volunteering for sports they had never played before, truly embodying the Patty spirit. The spectators were fantastic too, cheering loudly and waving the signs they had made. The atmosphere was filled with support, encouragement, and a strong sense of unity, making the week even more special. I’m sure we will all remember the teamwork, determination, and house pride displayed during Winter Interhouse 2025 for years to come. A big shout out to our AFL team who brought home the shield!
From Kennion House Captain Zara Trim:
Our superstar Middle School Netball team had incredible positive energy. They were all willing to try any position to help the team out, and our Senior Netball team brought home the win with some amazing results!! The Soccer girls were quick on their feet, managing to outskill all their opponents and steal the win! Our Badminton girls were calm, composed and knew exactly what they had to get done. They did it with great skill to win us the shield. A blue team of tutus and bright bike shorts carried their blue energy to claim the Hockey shield for the house! Our AFL girls gave it their all and never backed down from a challenge, whether it was chasing down the opposition or contesting for a mark!
From Kilburn House Captains Lara Maoinex and Nellie Ion:
As House Captains, we love that Winter Interhouse is such a competitive and action packed week, filled with energy and support. What we enjoy most is the unwavering support and enthusiasm that radiates from all Kilburnites. Whether we’re winning or losing, our girls display sportsmanship and get around each other, even stepping up to fill in for sports they’ve never played before. We are so proud of everyone’s efforts, determination, and the way we come together as a team.
From Selwyn House Captains Shea Forster & Asha Eaton
We had some really creative Selwyn posters that helped boost the morale of our interhouse teams despite having not won a specific sport, the Selwyn supporters didn’t lose faith and continued to encourage and cheer for our teams. We had Selwyn girls who had never played the sport fill in only minutes before the event, showing their true green spirit by taking one for the team. We saw leadership in younger year levels especially with the Middle School netball team who effectively coached and led their squad to a close second place victory.

Cross Country Wrap Up
This Cross-Country season for Saints Girls’ was one filled with energy, encouragement, and positivity. Across all year levels, our runners embraced each race with determination, pushing themselves to try their best and cheering on their teammates every step of the way. With variations in courses and weather conditions each week, the girls did phenomenal in representing the School with pride and courage, as well as enjoying a fun run on a Wednesday afternoon. Whether it was a first-time competitor or a seasoned runner, everyone contributed to the lively, supportive atmosphere that made each event memorable. Highlights included personal bests by many of our previous and new runners, impressive placings, particularly in our last race for the season being the relays in which our Senior girls placed first. Congratulations to Elodie, Isla, India and Amelia on your outstanding run! Additionally, the results from the Cross-Country state championships held at Oakbank racecourse were far from underwhelming, with Isla, Amelia and India all finishing on the podium out of hundreds of participants in their respective age groups. Special shoutout to our year 12’s – Aliya and Ellie who filled in last minute to form a complete open girls’ team! Although our team did incredibly well this year regarding impressive races and placing positions, the season was about more than results—it was about building confidence, celebrating effort, and enjoying the challenge together. The Saints Girls Cross-Country team can finish the season proud of their achievements, their sportsmanship, and the way they lifted each other up from start to finish. For me, this was a great finish to my final season as a year 12 and I look forward on seeing the continuous improvements of the team in the years to come.

Couldn’t be prouder of the way we played together from start to finish. Huge credit to our defenders for keeping the opposition goalless in the first quarter. Everyone had their standout moments from drives down the court, long-range shots, to intercepts. Awesome to get our first win of the season and very well deserved!
Best Player: Aofie Carty and Anna Wang
Year 9D: Saints (13) vs Scotch (24)
Great movement down the court from all the girls, shoutout to Evie for leading the girls in C and creating space down the court and to Chutong for her endless intercepts.
Best Players: Chutong Liang and Evie Murphy
Year 8A: Saints (40) vs Pembroke (31)
The girls absolutely smashed it today, by far their best game of the season! Every single player stepped up and played their role to perfection. Defensively, they worked as one, applying full-court pressure and keeping hands over every pass. The teamwork was seamless, with resets and give-and-go’s executed beautifully.
In attack, the swings and triangle movements were spot on, creating space and opening up the court with fantastic width. The commitment, effort, and energy from every player was just outstanding – and today, there was no single standout. It was a complete team performance, and every player was the best on court! We missed having Sophie out there with her back injury, and unfortunately, Clara sustained a rolled ankle during the game, wishing both girls a speedy recovery.
Year 8C: Saints (18) vs Pulteney (29)
The girls showed great fight after being down by about 5 goals at quarter time. They faced a highly skilled Pulteney team but did well to get the game back on their terms. Some outstanding performances across the whole court, with a lot of encouragement and positive talk across the whole team.
Best Players: Alanah Searle and Heidi Chan
Superwoman: Victoria Hii
Year 8D: Saints (9) vs Wilderness (19)
The girls did well, only starting with 6 players. They consistently improved as the game went on, with a lot of girls trying new positions. The girls never gave up and showed great fight.
