Music Camp Reflection
This year at music camp was one of the best music camps I have been on so far. We stayed at the Hahndorf Discovery Park for the second year and the facilities are wonderful! The food was great and the places that we were rehearsing in were comfortable and yes, a good aircon especially good for the hot days! There were many more younger girls that came on the camp which gave the opportunity for Senior students to connect with them and get to know them. I got to know some younger students that I initially had never talked to before. The three days that were spent rehearsing was very valuable because each ensemble grew stronger together and built a deeper understanding of music. Additionally, on the second night, we had a special guest, Adam Page, who is a South Australian musician specialising in looping and jazz. Hearing him perform to us was so amazing, all the girls were completely in shock because of how talented he is! Towards the end of Music Camp, all the ensembles got together and did a sharing of what they have been working on the past three days. Not only did each ensemble improve and built a deeper understanding of their own music, but they also grew as a group. Music camp is definitely one of my favourite events of the whole year and I already can’t wait for 2027 Music Camp!!

Music Camp was a fantastic opportunity to connect with our Saints Girls music family and spend valuable time rehearsing together, in a variety of ensembles. The longer rehearsals allowed us to develop a strong understanding of our music and also allowed us to foster strong bonds within our ensembles, with girls Years 6 to 12 on the Camp. This also was a great opportunity for us to prepare for the year ahead!

120 girls participated in Music Camp last week at Hahndorf preparing for upcoming performances such as GIJ and the opening of the Emily Centre. Girls had a great time getting to know each other better, rehearsing as full ensembles and in small group sectionals. We also had a guest performance by the amazing Adam Page who showcased his incredible improvising abilities using various loop pedals.
