Sharing Our Learning: Portfolio Week at the ELC
During Week 3, we were excited to welcome families into our Piazza for our Portfolio Sharing Week. This special opportunity allowed children to showcase their learning journeys, reflect on their experiences, and share their achievements with the people who matter most—their families.
Portfolios are more than just a collection of artwork or observations—they are a window into each child’s growth, interests, and curiosity. By sharing their portfolios, children take an active role in their own learning, discussing their discoveries, explaining their thinking, and celebrating their successes. This process encourages children to become agents of their own learning, building confidence and a sense of pride in what they can achieve.
For families, portfolio sharing provides insight into the learning happening every day at the ELC. It highlights the diverse ways children explore, investigate, and develop skills across all areas of learning. Families are able to see how play, inquiry, and meaningful experiences contribute to their child’s development.
This experience strongly reflects the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Specifically, it aligns with Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity, as children develop confidence in their abilities and begin to see themselves as capable learners. It also connects to Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators, as children articulate their ideas, thoughts, and experiences, sharing these meaningfully with others.
Portfolio Sharing Week is a reminder of the powerful partnership between home and the early learning environment. Together, we celebrate children’s learning, curiosity, and achievements—supporting them to grow as confident, capable, and enthusiastic learners.
