Surfing, Hiking and Abseiling at Year 9 Camp

Our Year 9 students recently returned from their five-day camp on the Yorke Peninsula. As well as participating in outdoor activities, the experience gave the girls space to grow together as a year level, supporting one another and enjoying the simple joys of camp life. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate teamwork, friendship, and shared achievement.
Joni Combe
Head of Year 9

During the Year 9 camp to the Yorke Peninsula, we took on the challenge of a 12km hike and braved the harsh weather to enjoy a range of exciting activities, including surfing and abseiling. We were pushed out of our comfort zones and took the opportunity to overcome our fears, whilst enjoying the breathtaking coastal scenery. Throughout the trip, we built stronger friendships, developed resilience and teamwork, improved our cooking skills, and gained a real sense of camp life.

Our Year 9 Camp to the Yorke Peninsula was such a fun and memorable experience. I really enjoyed spending time outdoors with my friends, especially surfing at Berry Bay. Even though we had some challenges, like windy weather and rocky campsites, we found ways to overcome them and still had a great time. This camp helped me build confidence, try new activities, and make long lasting memories.

Environment Club Update – Visit from Dr Geoffrey Bishop

On Thursday 18 September, Environment Club members from Years 10 and 11 met with Dr Geoffrey Bishop, President of the Friends of Ferguson Conservation Park, which borders our School on the southern side. The Environment Club has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the park, and Dr Bishop provided an update on recent projects, including the maintenance and development of new walking trails.

Over the years, our club has actively contributed to the park’s conservation efforts, particularly in the removal of invasive species such as Sparaxis and Cape Tulip. Due to the warmer weather this year, these plants flowered slightly earlier than usual. During the visit, students assisted in clearing two targeted areas in an ongoing effort to eradicate these weeds.

Maintaining strong connections between our school and Ferguson Conservation Park is a priority for the Environment Club, and we look forward to continuing this valuable work in the months ahead.
