Celebrating Success in the 2025 South Australia Chinese Language Video Competition

We are delighted to share the fantastic achievements of two of our students in the 2025 South Australia Chinese Language Video Competition.

Molly Hu (Year 5) won 1st Prize in the First Language Chinese category (Years 3 to 6) — not only taking first place, but also achieving the highest score in South Australia. Her video explored the Wenzhou dialect, bringing a unique cultural perspective to life.

Grace Guo (Year 4) won 3rd Prize in the Background Chinese category (Years 3 to 6) with her original story “The Timid Maomao.” Using toys as characters, she created a short film that was both imaginative and beautifully expressed in Chinese.

This annual competition invites students across SA to create short videos showcasing their Chinese language skills and creativity. Entries ranged from stories and performances to cultural explorations, with winners recognised at the official Awards Ceremony in September.

We are extremely proud of Molly and Grace for their outstanding efforts and achievements, and we warmly encourage all students of Chinese to consider entering this exciting competition in the future. Please talk to your Chinese teacher if you are interested.

Author, Tania Ingram, Steals our Hearts

As part of our Inquiry into personal expression through the performing arts, the Year 3 girls are studying the novel, ‘Aggie Flea Steals the Show.’ We were thrilled to have the author, Tania Ingram, visit to talk to us about her inspiration, her writing process and how her novel expresses elements of her life and personality. The girls surprised Tania by accessorising as the main character and were enthralled by her anecdotes and advice.

Some reflections from the girls:

“You taught me that I can be as unique and brave as I want, without worrying about what other people think.”

“I loved that you made your characters reflect different parts of you and your daughter.”

“I enjoyed learning about how I can be a planner and a panster (someone who writes ‘by the seat of their pants’) all at the same time.”

We thank Tania for visiting to inspire our girls.

Each provider delivers engaging workshops designed to spark curiosity and build confidence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The programs are tailored to different age groups:

  • Years 2 and 3: Junior Engineers will provide fun, interactive foundational STEM activities.
  • Years 4 to 6: AI Camp will lead sessions exploring topics such as robotics, virtual reality, and digital innovation.

Please find registration details, the cost of each program and the contact information for each provider below.

We look forward to welcoming Junior Engineers and AI Camp to the Junior School.
