Celebrating 2025: A Year to Remember

As we close the final eNews of 2025, I find myself reflecting on a year filled with extraordinary moments that have made us all incredibly proud to be part of the Saints Girls community.

Introducing The Emily Centre

Last night at Presentation Night, we shared very special news with our community. Our magnificent North West building now has a name that honours the very foundation of our School—The Emily Centre!!

The naming is profoundly meaningful. It honours Mother Emily and her Community of the Sisters of the Church, whose vision founded our School in 1894. The cross on the graduation ring, which our Year 12s received last night, is the symbol of Mother Emily’s Community. Through The Emily Centre, we unite every current and future student with the generations of strong women who have shaped Saints Girls for 131 years.

The building’s contemporary exterior represents progressive learning spaces within, while the stone cladding links beautifully to Chiverton House, purchased by our Sisters in 1949. When The Emily Centre opens in 2026, it will house general learning classrooms, inspiring Music and Performing Arts spaces, two indoor courts with fitness facilities, and vibrant outdoor areas for our girls.

A Year of Connection and Achievement

Throughout 2025, we witnessed what makes Saints Girls truly special, the powerful sense of belonging that grounds every girl’s experience. When Reverend Peter Laurence, CEO of AngliSchools, visited this year, he observed that St Peter’s Girls is “one of the rare schools that is truly an ELC to Year 12 school, with learning culture and commitment exceptionally strong across every element.”

Our girls stepped forward with remarkable confidence across all areas. At the Head of the River, we achieved our best medal tally ever, with 50 non-rowing students cheering on our crews on a 39-degree day. We won both Summer and Winter Intercollegiate Trophies, and our Hockey team secured back-to-back State Titles.

In Performing Arts, over 100 girls brought Newsies to life, while Enchante reached international heights as a semi-finalist in the Petrichor Records International Music Competition against professional ensembles from 38 nations. Our musicians won the Stage Band section at Generations in Jazz for the first time and dominated at ABODA. Patteson finally broke their 13-year Choral Night drought in spectacular fashion.

Academic excellence thrived throughout the year. In competitions, our Year 9 team won the national Da Vinci Decathlon—the first time any South Australian school has claimed this prestigious title. We also secured the Senior National Philosothon, the state title at the Middle School Ethics Olympiad, and first place at the South Australian Computational and Linguistics Olympiad. This year, we launched our Microcredential in Health and Medical Sciences in partnership with Flinders University, offering Year 10 students university-style learning while still attending school.

Thank You

As we prepare for the opening of the Emily Centre in 2026, I’m reminded that great schools are built on meaningful connections that help every girl discover she truly belongs. Thank you to our entire community—staff, parents, grandparents, Board members, Old Scholars, and volunteers—for making 2025 an extraordinary year.

I wish you all much joy over the festive season.
