Selwyn Shines at the Swimming Carnival!

On Monday afternoon, excitement rippled through the pool as our Years 2 and 3 students dived into a fun-filled swimming carnival bursting with energy, laughter, and team spirit! From the moment the first freestyle race began, the atmosphere was electric. Students gave it their all! They cheered on their friends, showing off their swimming skills, and making a splash in every event.

The noodle relay brought plenty of giggles and friendly competition, while the entire day was a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence in the water and celebrate being active together.

A huge well done to all our swimmers for their amazing effort and enthusiasm, and a big thank you to our dedicated staff who made the day possible.

And of course, a massive congratulations to Selwyn for taking home the Shield!

Maxing Out the Fun: Year 2s First Overnight Adventure!

On Monday 27 October, our Year 2 students set off on their very first overnight camp — an exciting and action-packed experience at AFL Max! The camp focused on living a healthy, balanced lifestyle, and the girls took part in a range of active sessions that helped them learn how to take care of their bodies and minds. They explored the importance of good nutrition and discovered how to fuel their bodies for energy, fun, and learning.

After a busy day of activities, we wound down with a cozy movie night, watching Ratatouille together before settling in to sleep. The girls were so excited when they woke up and realised that they made it through the night and had another fun day ahead! The next morning, we visited Studio Vino for a wonderful paint pouring art session. This was the perfect creative outlet to calm our minds and reflect after such an energetic 24 hours.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 2 girls for the resilience and independence they showed throughout the camp. Their positivity and teamwork shone through, and the AFL Max staff even commented on how well-behaved and enthusiastic our group was. It was a truly enjoyable experience for everyone involved!

Connecting Through Stories: SLIC’s Library Adventure

The Student Library Initiatives Club (SLIC), along with the Junior School Library Leaders, visited the State Library of South Australia on Monday, Week 4. During the excursion, we explored the State Libraries collections and learned about its resources and history. A highlight of the visit was selecting new books for the School library at Dymocks Bookshop in Rundle Mall. Club members and the Junior Leaders thoughtfully chose a variety of titles to appeal to different reading interests and support literacy at School.

Isabella Hasda-Hall, SLIC Member

The visit to the State Library was not only educational but also a special opportunity to connect as a community of readers. This was an exciting trip as for the first time the Middle and Senior School SLIC members were joined by the Junior School Library Leaders. Exploring the collections together deepened our appreciation for the history and importance of libraries in preserving past stories and inspiring lifelong learning. Visting Dymocks Bookshop afterwards was a highlight, as everyone was involved in discussing books they believe would be great additions to our own school library. Overall, the trip was a memorable experience enjoyed immensely by all!
