IGSSA Awards

In Week 9, our Sports Captains attended the IGSSA Awards Breakfast to celebrate the outstanding achievements from all IGSSA Schools throughout the 2025 Summer and Winter Seasons of sport.

As part of this ceremony, we are asked to nominate one Year 12 girl for the Ashleigh Young Contribution to IGSSA Sport Award. This award recognises a student from each school who has positively impacted IGSSA sport both on and off the field throughout their time at school.

As a school, we have a significant number of girls who contribute in a meaningful way both as players and leaders in their chosen sport/s. We are lucky to have such a willing group of girls who continually put their hand up to represent Saints and mentor their peers. This is a strength of our sports community and one that we will continue to foster and grow.

This year, Zara Trim was our nominee.  Since starting at Saints as a Year 8, Zara has been a regular fixture at hockey, water polo, cross country and athletics and swimming carnivals. She also added cricket to her long list of sports as a Year 11/12 and soon became known for hitting big sixes.

When participating, Zara leads by example. She is a hard worker and always brings a positive attitude to any situation. She steps up when needed, but also nurtures and mentors the younger girls to instil confidence in them to have a go.

Zara has been part of our Student Mentor Program for a number of years. Her willingness to give back and be a role model for our Junior School girls, epitomises the Saints Spirit we are known for on the sports field.

Congratulations Zara, on your contribution to Saints Girls’ sports. Your impact has been significant.

IGSSA Athletics Championship

On Wednesday 24 September and group of 42 Saints girls headed to Athletics SA Stadium to compete in the annual IGSSA Athletics Championships.

To say I am proud of what this group achieved yesterday is an understatement. With many our top athletes unavailable to compete due to illness or injury, girls stepped up over and over to compete in higher divisions or in events that were not necessarily their best.

Girls achieved personal bests, had podium finishes and most importantly cheered and supported each other all day. Lead by Athletics Captain, Elodie de Wit and Sports Prefect Charlotte McAuliffe our girls pushed themselves to their absolute limits, showing grace in victory and dignity in defeat.

Overall, we came third. Only 64.5 points behind first placed Immanuel College. An absolutely phenomenal effort under the circumstances and one the girls should be very proud of.

A special mention to Amelia Sheridan, who managed to break two IGSSA records yesterday in the Under 15 3000m (9:39, previous record 10:09.61) and Under 14 1500m (4:37.46, previous record 4:41.34). Amelia also competed in the 200m and 800m races (coming first in both!) all on a busted knee from a fall off her bike over the weekend.

Representing her school is something Amelia loves doing and no matter the circumstances always gives 100%.

Congratulations to all the girls who competed yesterday. You did your school and yourselves proud.
