Junior School Girls Present, Welcome to Disneyland
Junior School Co-Curricular Dance Performance
Last Thursday, the Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre was buzzing with a full house celebrating all things dance! The Junior School Co-Curricular Dance program presented ‘Welcome to Disneyland,’ led by the creative team of Ms Mulraney and Ms Shelley Young. Each class from Years 3 to 6 presented a contemporary and jazz routine inspired by music from Disney films that they had been developing with technical skills learnt throughout the year.
Additionally, in small groups within each class, students were given the opportunity to create their own choreography and perform this, which is such an empowering experience! Creativity has been developed by encouraging students to think critically about dance composing and developing their own style. Courage was shown by every student who stepped onto the stage, and compassion was evident at the dress rehearsal where I witnessed girls offering one another gentle encouragement and support.
The Arts is a wonderful space for these core values to be nurtured and developed in our students. A huge thank you to the teachers involved as well as our Performing Arts Captains, Alyssa, Zo and Alex, who attended classes each week, and our amazing tech team, Scott and Ella, for bringing the showcase to life. I feel so fortunate to work alongside such passionate and talented people who help this program be celebrated.
