Where One Chapter Ends, Another Begins
Yesterday marked an important occasion when we celebrated the appointment of our 2026 Student Leadership Team at their official Leaders Induction Ceremony. This annual tradition is a significant event in our School. Surrounded by their peers, teachers, and families, our new Student Leaders accepted their badges of office with pride, committing themselves to serve the School with integrity and purpose. Following in the footsteps of our 2025 Student Leaders, this new cohort will bring fresh energy, innovative ideas, and a genuine passion for making a difference in their role. I am confident that they will lead by example and will inspire and unite our students in their own unique way.
The Leaders Induction Ceremony gave us pause to think and reflect on the incumbent leaders as they handed the Badges of Office to our new leaders. Over the past year, our current Student Leaders led by Head Prefect Mollie Kennet and Deputy Olivia Park, have shown exceptional dedication to their roles. They have brought boundless warmth and care to their leadership which has further strengthened the cohesion of our student body. They have maintained a great sense of fun, lifting spirits and reminding us of what a joy it is to belong to our St Peter’s Girls community. We are deeply grateful for all they have given to the life of our School.
The past ten weeks have been another remarkable term, full of memorable moments reflecting the energy and spirit of our School. Our Sports Pink Round brought the community together in a powerful display of support and awareness, while House Spirit Weeks ignited House pride across all year levels. The Arts have particularly shone this term. Our Reception and Year 1 Dance Concert warmed the hearts of our families and staff, and the SACE/IB Concert, Icons left us amazed at the extraordinary talent of our older students. Some of these talented dancers also represented the School with excellence on stage at the ULTRA Dance Competition. Likewise, the SACE Music Concert highlighted the remarkable talent of our Senior students, with their impressive success at this year’s ABODA competition affirming their musical excellence. The Junior School Art Trail transformed Junior School hallways into galleries of creativity, and our Father’s Day celebration brought together fathers, grandfathers and treasured friends to share in the joy of learning.
At the end of the term, our students in Years 9 and 10 went on camp to the Yorke Peninsula and Flinders Ranges, respectively. These outdoor adventures provided students with rich and meaningful experiences that fostered personal growth, resilience, and independence. They also offered valuable opportunities to strengthen teamwork, communication, and leadership skills in a rural setting. Undoubtedly, the camps left students with lasting memories, helped forge new friendships, and deepened the bonds between students and staff.
Just last night, I watched the Junior School Musical OLIVER! JR in the Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre. Our Year 5 students both entertained and impressed the packed house with their talents in music, dance, singing and acting as they brought the famous Dickens’ tale to life on stage.
As our outgoing Year 12 students complete final assessments and prepare for their examinations, we extend our heartfelt wishes for success in the weeks ahead. They can face their final academic challenges with confidence as their hard work and commitment throughout the year will bode them well at this time.
With Term 3 drawing to a close, I am filled with pride in the way our School community continues to thrive, and the way in which our students, staff and families support one another in a school where everyone belongs. Whether it was watching students excel in their studies, seeing creativity bloom in our Arts programs, witnessing new leaders emerge, or simply feeling the warmth of our daily connections, this term has captured what makes our School special. I hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved break with family and friends, and l look forward to seeing you in Term 4.
