ROWING
Last Saturday was the Rowing SA 3rd Grade and Novice State Championships. The ‘grade’ system separates rowers based a point score system that is calculated based on experience and result history – consequently, when racing ‘grade’ events our crews can find themselves racing crews of different year levels, and in some instances our crews even found themselves racing Open crews from clubs.
Despite this our crews performed strongly throughout the day, managing difficult conditions on the course. For our Junior squad this regatta was another opportunity to race, gain experience, and focus on process and performance. Meanwhile our Senior and Intermediate squads were entered in a variety of events. Our crews were impressive, albeit often without reward, achieving four 2nd places finishes across the day. The highlight of the day was watching our Seniors achieve a trifecta in the 3rd Grade Women’s Pair, placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Well done to all our crews, and special congratulations to Alison Francis and Grace Jones on their State Championship title!

Saints Showjumpers
Congratulations to Imogen Lindh (Year 11) who had a successful Junior Australian Jumping Championships held in NSW. The Championships were held over three rounds, with 64 competitors from NSW, QLD, Vic and SA. Imogen and her horse, Licaviv won the first round, but went into the final round sitting in 9th position with seven penalties. The final round was held over two different courses, and Imogen only incurred four penalties, which saw her shoot up the placings to claim fourth position.
12&U National Golf Championships
Congratulations to Ishana Roy (Year 6) who has spent the last week in NSW on the links, representing South Australia in the 12&U National Golf Championships. There were three rounds, made up of a four person Ambrose and two Individual Strokeplay Team events. Of the Strokeplay, Ishana top scored for SA, with a net score of +1 (Rnd 1 79 and Rnd 2 62), seeing her place 6th overall. Ishana’s second round score of 62 was a real highlight, which included 7 pars and 3 birdies – a round that would make a few adults very jealous!
