IGSSA Athletics Champions!

We are excited to share that Saints Girls won the IGSSA Athletics Carnival Shield this week, making it back-to-back wins, with seven wins in the past nine years. There were many amazing individual performances across the day, a special mention to Amelia Sheridan (Year 7) who broke the record for the Open 3000m and U14 1500m; and Charlotte McAuliffe (Year 11) took out the 100m Champion Runner for the second time. Our Under 14 girls won their age division and our Open Relay team won their relay, winning the shield for the first time since 2013. It was a fantastic day, and we ran out winners by roughly 100 points, it was great to see the sportswomanship and camaraderie between all our girls. Well done to everyone who competed, what a fabulous day of athletics.

Lucy’s Sailing Success

A big congratulations to Year 9 student, Lucy Cree for her achievements in sailing recently! Lucy has been sailing dinghies since the age of six and has more recently moved into keelboat sailing. She has sailed in various state and national championships, and is involved in the Ocean View College sailing program, where her team placed 2nd in the state championships. Lucy has experience skippering a 25ft Westwind and has been appointed skipper of a boat in the Port Line Cup later in the year. Lucy has picked up multiple awards, including the Youth Trophy and Sailability Trophy from her club, as well as the Sailability Trophy by Sailing SA, which recognised her volunteering commitment to assist people of all abilities to get into sailing.

Well done on your amazing contribution to your sport, Lucy!

Annie Makes State Captain

Well done to Annie Keough (Year 11) on her appointment as captain of the U17 South Australian Volleyball team. The team recently competed at Nationals in Bendigo where they played against some very strong Volleyball states, and whilst Annie and her team were hoping for a higher placed finish (5th), the team remained consistent throughout the championships and came away with many positives. Annie is super proud of her team and is grateful for the opportunity to represent her state and for the learnings from the experience.

Saints Girls Play State Soccer

Well done to Chloe Richardson (Year 10) and Aleesha Gray (Year 9) on representing South Australia in their respective age division at the National Youth Soccer Championships. Both teams had some solid wins and competitive matches, with Chloe’s U16 side placing 4th overall, and Aleesha’s U15s making it through to the quarter finals, where they claimed 3rd spot!

Antra Represents SA at Hockey Nationals

Antra Docherty has been busy applying her trade as an up-and-coming hockey superstar, representing South Australia in the U12 state team in Cairns. A draw in their final match against Western Australia saw Antra and her team finish 5th overall.

Congratulations, Antra. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of you in South Australian colours!

Junior School End of Term Sports Break Up

The Junior School farewelled winter sport last week by having a fun last session with special guests and sharing lots of snacks with their teammates. The Aussie Rules girls were put through their paces by some of our Senior A team, where we found out who could kick the furthest, practiced their goal kicking and speckys! The Basketball girls were lucky enough to have Ella Batish from the Adelaide Lightning facilitate their session, whilst our Soccer girls had several Adelaide United players come and take their training. Our Junior Hockey team had a morning off training, rather enjoying a team breakfast instead and the Netball season concluded with interhouse matches and lots of food to share afterwards!

There were over 140 competition sport nominations made by Junior School students in Term 3, and we look forward to seeing the program to continue grow. Well done to all students, coaches and families!
