Book Week Celebrations

Each year across Australia, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) brings words, images and stories to the forefront of our hearts and minds during the celebrations for Book Week.

To culminate Book Week, the Junior School students embraced the 2024 theme of ‘Reading is Magic’ with imaginative costumes related to magic or characters in books. They waved and smiled to parents and friends as they paraded along the walkway to the Chapel. At a special Junior School Assembly, each class then took to the stage to showcase their outfits to the Junior School cohort. The students thoroughly enjoyed the presentation by SLIC members of scenes from some of the books shortlisted for CBCA Book Week awards, as well as being entertained by the teachers dressing up and acting out their version of ‘The Magic Hat’ by Mem Fox.

Our next reading focus is the conclusion of the Premiers Reading Challenge which students have been working towards since Term 1. For Reception to Year 3 students, the reading records have been maintained at School assisted by class teachers. Students in Years 4 to 6 will need to submit their completed forms electronically to their Year Level Canvas Library course by Friday 6 September.

Year 5 Production 2024

Excitement is building for the Year 5 Musical Anastasia.

This dazzling show will transport the audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past.

Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer, determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a loveable ex-aristocrat. Together they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.

We warmly welcome the St Peter’s Girls’ community to purchase tickets for this amazing show. There are two matinee (1.15pm) and two evening performances (7pm) on 26 and 27 September in the Jeffreys Linn Arts Centre at St Peter’s Girls’ School.

Tickets are on sale, so make sure you secure your seats before they sell out! Click here to book.

We look forward to showcasing the extraordinary talents of our students!
