Year 9 Drama Incursion
Patrick Hercamp, award-winning Fringe Artist, presented his one-man show Fakespeare to the Year 9 Drama classes. His interactive, fun-filled rendition of Shakespeare’s tragic classic, Hamlet, allowed the students to engage with the narrative and appreciate the wit of both Shakespeare and the actor. Here are some reviews from the students:
The Fakespeare performance was very entertaining and funny, Patrick was great at interacting with the audience and making it a great experience for all of us. He told the story of the tragedy Hamlet in a way that we could understand but still keeping the old fashioned theme. It was a great way to learn about Shakespeare.

5 out of 5 stars! Patrick brings these historical stories into the 21st century, using humour to keep us engaged! I have a newfound love and understanding of Shakespeare now! He was constantly engaging the audience, making us feel a part of the show. There was a lot of poison and even more death, but Patrick’s excellent comedic timing had us all laughing the entire time!

The show “Fakespere,” performed by Patrick brought a smile to everyone’s face. We are still joking about some of the lines that were said throughout the play as well as the jump he would do every time he needed to say the word Macbeth. Not only was he comedic he also involved the audience. You could tell he had been doing the show a while, as he quoted, he had done the show more than a thousand times. I give it five stars and would recommend it for people that are looking for a good laugh with friends, or even alone.

Initially I thought it would be boring but I quickly found it was entertaining and very funny! Patrick was hilarious and it was easy to tell he was an experienced actor who loved what he was doing. I would 100% recommend this show to anyone who wants an educational yet funny and entertaining show.

Patrick delivered an interesting and engaging performance of Shakespeares show Hamlet. My favourite aspect of his performance is how he was so good at changing the dynamic of each part of the show, he had delivered each line with the perfect ease and expression. Having the opportunity to see him perform and gave me an insight into Shakespeare and acting professionally.
