Year 3 Sport & BBQ Afternoon: Celebrating Community, Connection and a Love of Sport
The Year 3 Sport and BBQ Afternoon was a wonderful celebration of community spirit, shared experience, and the joy of being active together. Families gathered on the Oval for an afternoon that brought students, parents, and teachers together through participation, teamwork, and plenty of fun.
This event served as an introduction to the Junior School’s Co‑Curricular Sporting Program, giving students the chance to explore a range of sports they will have the opportunity to join throughout the year. Many students were excited to try activities they had never experienced before, including Aussie Rules, Hockey, and Touch Football. The oval was filled with laughter, determination, and friendly competition as students and parents partnered up, learned new skills, and encouraged one another.
One of the most special aspects of the afternoon was the strong sense of community connection. Parents and students took part side‑by‑side handballing, passing, sprinting, and cheering each other on. It was a beautiful reminder of how sport can bring people together and create memorable shared experiences.
For many Year 3 students, the afternoon was an opportunity to discover new interests and build confidence through exploring unfamiliar sports. Watching students find excitement in a new skill, or enthusiasm for a sport they had never tried before, was a highlight for staff and families alike. These moments reflect the goal of our Co‑Curricular Sporting Program: to inspire curiosity, courage, teamwork, and a lifelong love of being active. As we look ahead to the coming terms, we encourage all students to nominate for the sports that interest them.
The afternoon concluded with a relaxed sausage sizzle, giving families and staff time to connect, chat, and enjoy the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defines our School.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all staff involved in planning, coordinating, and running the session activities. Your energy, organisation, and enthusiasm made the afternoon not only successful but thoroughly enjoyable for our students and their families. Events like this are only possible because of your hard work and commitment to creating meaningful experiences for our School community.
A big thank you also to our families for your enthusiastic participation. We can’t wait to see our Year 3s out on the field this year – learning, growing, and discovering their passion for sport.

Receptions Celebrate Shrove Tuesday
As part of our Unit of Inquiry, Reception students have been exploring the central idea, ‘People recognise and celebrate important events through different commemorations.‘ This week, we celebrated Shrove Tuesday in a very tasty way! Students learned about the history and traditions behind this special day before enjoying the best part: topping and tucking into delicious pancakes with their classmates. A huge thank you to the Tuck Shop for kindly supplying the pancakes and helping make the experience so memorable!
